The Ibex 35 index of the Madrid Stock Exchange traded with slight advances after the opening of the session to trade moments after the start of the day at 9,238 points, with a rise of 0.16% compared to Tuesday’s close, after knowing the CPI data for Spain in January.
Specifically, in the first month of 2023 the Consumer Price Index (CPI) rose two tenths in the interannual rate, up to 5.9%, thus standing one tenth above the preliminary data advanced at the end of last month.
Thus, at the start of the session in the Plaza de la Lealtad, the biggest increases among the components of the Ibex 35 corresponded to ArcelorMittal, with 1.01%, ahead of Naturgy, with 0.84%, after earn 1,649 million euros in 2022, 35.8% more.
At the opposite extreme, the most bearish values of the Madrid selective after the opening were Grifols, with a drop of 0.63%, and IAG, with a drop of 0.61%.
Among the representatives of the banking sector in the Ibex 35, only Caixabank was trading upwards, with a minimal rise of 0.03%, while the rest of the banks registered slight decreases.
Thus, Santander’s shares lost 0.17% and BBVA’s 0.25%, while Bankinter’s fell 0.27% and Unicaja Banco’s 0.52%.
Among the rest of the main stock markets of the Old Continent, the behavior was mixed, with the Ftse 100 in London falling by 0.28%, while the Cac 40 in Paris rose by 0.10% and the Frankfurt Dax by 0.15 %.
