– The theme of the 2023 Cheongju Craft Biennale is “The Geography of Objects – Living in the Web of Biophilia”
CHEONGJU, South Korea, Dec. 13, 2022 /PRNewswire/ — The Organizing Committee of the Cheongju Craft Biennale held a press conference in Cheongju, South Korea on Tuesday the 13th and unveiled the plans for the Craft Biennale of Cheongju of 2023.
The theme of the 13th edition of the Biennale is “The geography of objects_ Living in the biophilia network”.
The main exhibition, in which 80 artists from 20 countries will participate, plans to explore the future of “Biophilia” and “Ecological Correction” endowed crafts through three sections: ▶Biophilia Crafts ▶Digital Crafts ▶Recycling Crafts.

In the exhibition of invited countries, 30 pieces of Spanish crafts are presented. Spain is presented for the first time at the Cheongju Crafts Biennale, and a special event is also held to learn about Spanish culture and art.
The Organizing Committee established many new academic programs. Experts in crafts, humanities, sciences, and cultural content lead scholarly discussions related to crafts.
Finally, the Organizing Committee announced the start of the national campaign [REUSE RENEW]. This campaign makes sense to the extent that artisans directly repair and mend crafts that need repair and mending, giving new experiences to crafts and our lives.
The 2023 Cheongju Craft Biennale will be held for 45 days from September 1 to October 15 next year, and will focus on the Cheongju Culture Factory (South Korea).
