The hotel industry, men and foreigners lead the fall in employment, which rose by 79,000 people in seasonally adjusted values
MADRID, 2 Dic. (EUROPA PRESS) –
Social Security lost an average of 155 contributors in November, mainly due to the sharp drop in employment in the hospitality industry, which fell by more than 100,000 people compared to the previous month.
Thus, at the end of November, the total number of Social Security contributors stood at 20,283,631 people, according to data published this Friday by the Ministry of Inclusion, Social Security and Migrations.
The almost stagnation of affiliation in November, which had already been predicted by the minister of the branch, José Luis Escrivá, contrasts with the increases in employment that were registered in November 2020 and 2021, in which 31,638 and 61,768 contributors were won , respectively, although these are two exercises that were marked by the pandemic.
In November 2016 to 2019, there were affiliation losses, higher than those registered this year (in 2019, for example, 53,114 employed persons were lost). In fact, the average for November from 2017 to 2019 shows a drop of 37,000 affiliates.
In seasonally adjusted terms, the number of Social Security contributors chained its nineteenth consecutive increase in November after the system added 78,695 employed people (0.39%), up to a total of 20,319,146 people, also in line with what Escrivá had advanced to mid-month, when it forecast an increase in employment of around 80,000 people.
The Ministry has highlighted that 480,044 jobs have been created between January and November in seasonally adjusted values. Since August 2021, the month in which the level of affiliation prior to the pandemic was exceeded, employment has increased by nearly 825,000 contributors.
The Department headed by José Luis Escrivá has emphasized that the behavior of affiliation in November has improved that of the 2017-2019 period, years of “great dynamism” in the labor market, in which the average monthly variation of seasonally adjusted affiliation it was 37,000 people.
At the same time, he highlighted that the data for the first eleven months of the year allow us to anticipate growth in employment for the whole of 2022 close to 4%, which would mean “the highest rate of growth in recent years”, according to the Ministry.
In the last year, Social Security has gained 531,273 affiliates in average values, with an interannual growth of almost 2.7%, compared to the rate of 3.01% registered in October. In this way, the interannual rate of growth of affiliation fell from 3% in November after four consecutive months above that percentage.
The Ministry has also highlighted that the job creation process is being compatible with an improvement in its quality thanks to the positive impact that the labor reform is having after eleven months in force (eight of full force).
Thus, according to the Department of José Luis Escrivá, in November the increase in affiliates with permanent contracts accelerated, so that the current number of permanent workers is more than 2.3 million higher than that existing before the labor reform.
Among those under 30 years of age, the Ministry emphasizes that the percentage of affiliates with a permanent contract stood at 76% at the end of November, compared to the average of 47% for the 2017-2021 period. In total, there are already more than two million people under the age of 30 with permanent contracts.
At the same time, affiliates with contracts of less than 30 days have been reduced by more than three million since the labor reform and the average duration of the contracts that caused leave from January to November has increased by 49 days compared to the year 2019. , before the pandemic.
The monthly drop in average affiliates in November was exclusively due to men, who lost 4,919 contributors in the month compared to October (-0.04%), compared to an increase in employed women of 4,762 contributors (0.04%).
Thus, at the end of November, the number of employed women reached 9,536,203 affiliates, a new all-time high, while the number of employed men stood at 10,747,427 contributors.
The average affiliation of foreigners, for its part, fell by 5,720 contributors in November, 0.2% compared to the previous month, to stand at 2,456,786 employed.
By schemes, the General, the most numerous in the system, gained 3,868 average affiliates in November (0.02%), up to a total of 16,890,903 employed, while the Self-Employed Regime (RETA) lost 2,801 affiliates (-0. 08%), which placed the total number of self-employed contributors at 3,329,349.
Within the General Regime, Education once again led the greatest growth in employment, gaining 27,670 contributors compared to October (2.6%). It was followed by commerce, which added 24,948 employees (1%); Public Administration, with 11,351 new affiliates (0.9%), and construction, which gained 10,887 contributors (1.1%).
On the other hand, the end of the tourist campaign, which this year has been extended for a few more weeks due to the good weather, led the hospitality industry to lose 101,752 affiliates (-7.2%) and to lead the decrease in occupancy in November. It was followed, although very far, by agriculture, which lost 1,754 employed persons (-2.2%).
For its part, the Special Agrarian System gained 6,674 jobs in the penultimate month of the year (1%) and the Home registered 2,359 registrations (0.6%).
The Ministry underlines that the growth of affiliation maintains a “remarkable dynamism” in innovative sectors and with more added value, such as information technology and communications, which has 18.5% more affiliates than before the pandemic, or professional activities, scientific and technical, where employment has increased by 10.4%.
“Activities that grow more than 10% compared to pre-pandemic levels are, for the most part, high-productivity activities,” says the Department of Escrivá, which cites, for example, the 27% increase that they have experienced since February 2020 affiliates in programming, consulting and computer activities, as well as those registered in film, video and television activities (17.7%) or those framed in R D activities (17.6%).
By autonomous communities, in November the monthly growth of affiliation in Madrid stood out, with an advance of the average employed of 34,134 contributors, followed by the Valencian Community (21,064 affiliates) and Andalusia (12,881 employed). The biggest setbacks, by contrast, were recorded by the Balearic Islands (-80,387 contributors) and Castilla y León, with 5,489 fewer affiliates than in October.
On the other hand, the Ministry has reported that workers in ERTE for economic, technical, organizational or production reasons (ETOP) stood at 20,310 at the end of November, above the 17,351 of the previous month.
In total, at the end of last month there were 22,763 workers in ERTE, of which 20,310 were in an ERTE-ETOP; 1,453 in an ERTE due to force majeure, and a thousand in the sectorial ERTE of travel agencies.
