After a busy last year – the end of District 31, the film Norbourg – Vincent-Guillaume Otis is taking advantage of his summer to fill up on family time and vacations. Next August, the actor will begin rehearsals for the play The Son, marking his return to the stage at the theatre. A mysterious television series will then follow.

“I try to choose projects that will allow me to be able to do something else”, explains the one who personified the Patrick Bissonnette of District 31 for six years. By “something else” he means moving away from his character as an investigator who resembled him in morality and humor.

Met on the red carpet of the film Confessions by Luc Picard (in which his spouse, actress Éveline Gélinas plays), the actor explained that he had just returned from a family trip, with their three children. If he continues to take advantage of his two months off, he confides that his character in the play The Son already lives in him. Rehearsals will begin on August 22.

“It’s a good big challenge, a fairly demanding piece directed by René Richard Cyr which will be presented at the Théâtre du Rideau Vert, explains the one whose last presence on the boards dates back more than six years with The orange grove. It’s a good score, both logistically and emotionally. I am already working on the text to know it well in rehearsal. »

And the TV?

The actor admits to having refused filming to invest himself completely in this role in the theater.

“The theater thrill, getting out of your comfort zone, rehearsing and taking the time to work on the character, it’s this risk zone that I missed,” he says. It is doing, redoing and being in a rehearsal room, which is a room protected from any fast performance. We have time to make mistakes. »

The theater will occupy the actor until November, then after six months of break, he will devote all his time to a new and mysterious project. A first role in a TV series of which he can not say anything at the moment, except that his character will be very different from that in District 31.

“It’s a very nice TV project that will take me a lot of time. It’s very embryonic for the moment, the project exists, we’re going to shoot it, there’s a team and an author. There, we are at the point where the scenario will be written and we will work on it. »

Since his new series won’t see the light of day for a while, Vincent-Guillaume intends to “make himself forgotten a bit” by then, in order to surprise people and give the general public time to let go – just like he had to – his Patrick Bissonnette character.

♦ The play Le Fils, by Florian Zeller, will launch the Théâtre du Rideau Vert’s 2022-2023 theatrical season on September 27.
