An independent investigation was launched on Tuesday by the Bureau of Independent Investigations (BEI) concerning an intervention by the Sûreté du Québec (SQ) for an argument between neighbors that occurred in Saint-Adolphe-d’Howard, in the Laurentians.
According to initial information, the authorities received a call around 5:55 p.m. in connection with an argument between neighbors. “At the scene, the SQ police officers were confronted with a man with a long weapon. Shots were reportedly fired,” the BEI said in a statement.
The 44-year-old man was reportedly hit by at least one bullet. He was taken to hospital, where he is in stable condition.
Eight investigators from the BEI were tasked with investigating this event, while a parallel investigation was entrusted to the Service de police de la Ville de Montréal.
