A 17-year-old Ontarian has been charged with uttering death threats at an LGBTQ community event in West Palm Beach, Florida.

Miami police say they received a call on Sunday about a threat of a mass shooting at the Pride on the Block event in West Palm Beach.

“The threat was made on a video chat platform, Omegle. The suspect, waving a gun in the video, said he lived in Palm Beach County, made anti-LGBTQ comments, and said he was going to commit a mass shooting at the event. , said in a press release the West Palm Beach police who opened an investigation.

The investigation, conducted in collaboration with the New York Police Department, Toronto, Peel Region and even the FBI led to the suspect’s arrest on Monday.

The 17-year-old was arrested in Canada and the video and the weapon were recovered by the police. Canadian authorities accused him of threatening to carry out a mass shooting.

Charges are pending in Florida, including “written or electrical threats to kill, injure, or carry out a mass shooting or act of terrorism,” West Palm Beach police added.
