Quarterbacks Tom Brady and Aaron Rodgers have nothing to prove on the football field, but they shined on the greens of the Wynn Golf Club in Las Vegas on Wednesday, winning the latest edition of “The Match” by a blow.

This exhibition event this time pitted the quarterbacks of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Green Bay Packers against their counterparts Josh Allen and Patrick Mahomes, respectively of the Buffalo Bills and Kansas City Chiefs.

The duel, which employed the match play format, ended in dramatic fashion at the 12th and final pennant. Rodgers birdied a 15-foot putt to cement the veterans’ victory.

Shortly before, Allen came within a whisker of getting his pair the win, but his shot from 80 feet onto the green just missed the target.

“We took it seriously and we had to get to work a bit,” Rodgers, whose comments were picked up by the CBS network, said after the clash. They were playing pretty well and we didn’t want to leave here empty-handed.”

After equalizing on the fifth hole, the Mahomes-Allen duo took the lead for the first time on the eighth pennant. Their rivals, however, tied the game on the 10th hole before pulling away with the win.
