As the water level of the Gatineau River continues to rise, work is intensifying on the ground to prepare for flooding as the flood is expected to continue over the weekend.

This is particularly the case in the Limbour district, where deliveries of sandbags are accelerating to houses along the water, especially on rue Cartier.
On Wednesday, the authorities made a call for mobilization, mentioning that the rise in the water level of 1.45 meters was inevitable. In the past few weeks, the equivalent of two months of rain has fallen.
Limbour city councilor Louis Sabourin was in the field, accompanied by his colleague from Touraine, Tiffany-Lee Norris Parent.
“I still felt a little more anxiety on the part of the citizens, people told me about it. People are shocked by the situation, and are asking questions,” explains Louis Sabourin.
Hydro-Quebec CEO Sophie Brochu was also there. She said she understands the situation and she sympathizes with the residents.
However, some citizens are wondering about the management of dams by the state corporation.
“The level of the Baskatong is high, we come out of the water to control the level, and we save space in case there is another low pressure system that materializes in a week”, explains Hugo Sansoucy, head of production planning at Hydro-Québec.
For Sophie Brochu, climate change causes irreversible harm.
