“I can confirm that Canada has purchased over 20,000 rounds of 155mm artillery, which is the standard NATO caliber of artillery. This aid will also include rifles and bags of charges,” National Defense Minister Anita Anand said during a press briefing on Tuesday at the Ukrainian Cultural Center in Victoria, British Columbia.
This ammunition is compatible with artillery guns that have already been supplied by Canada and allied countries.
This military aid is in addition to that already provided since the start of the conflict last February, which includes contributions of artillery, cameras from Canadian-made drones and funds for high-resolution satellite imagery.
“During our last conversation, my Ukrainian counterpart Oleksiï Reznikov told me that Canadian aid has been very useful in Ukraine’s fight against the Russian occupiers,” assured Minister Anand.
Remember that Ottawa has made room for Ukraine in its 2022 budget, providing for the granting of $500 million in military aid.
