The elected representative of Maurice Richard’s constituency is leaving politics after 8 years of service. However, it does not close the door to a return “one day”. She says leave serene. The former Minister of Culture under the Couillard government affirms that she is retiring with the feeling of the work accomplished.
However, last November, the Liberal leader Dominique Anglade showed the door of the caucus to the deputy Marie Montpetit, targeted by allegations of psychological harassment.
“I am very disappointed with the way things have been done,” she mentioned during a press scrum on Tuesday morning, pointing out that the chef was disrespectful to her. “My trial was done in the public square without me being able to defend myself.”
Ms. Montpetit reiterates that no complaint was officially filed during all the years that she was a Member of Parliament.
“I relate to facts,” she said, maintaining that she has had the same entourage for many years. “I have nothing to reproach myself for (…) But no one is perfect.” She assures that she has never harassed employees and relatives. “I have asked for an independent investigation.”
She keeps her PLQ card, but will vote against the party in the next election.
For the 96
Moreover, unlike her former party, Ms. Montpetit will vote for Bill 96.
“I am very comfortable voting in favor (…) even if it is imperfect”, she indicated, affirming that she would not be comfortable with the position of the PLQ of Mrs. England.
