The White House called Russia’s attack in Ukraine on a nuclear power plant the “heights of irresponsibility” while stating that civilian infrastructure was a war crime. The White House stated that an internal review was ongoing on evidence that Russia has targeted civilians. However, the White House stated that it was mindful not to take steps that could raise American energy prices.
Anthony Blinken, the US Secretary of State, was also present on the wires. Blinken stated that there is a responsibility to prevent war from spilling over into other areas. The only way to establish a no fly zone in Ukraine would be for NATO to enter Ukrainian airspace and shoot down Russian aircrafts. A NATO no fly zone could result in a full-fledged European war. Blinked said that sanctions are not off the table. We are constantly evaluating the impact of sanctions. Reduced energy supply would have immediate effects on American prices and increase profits for Russia.
