While his amount of work in terms of the distribution of mail drops off dramatically in recent years (18 billion emails distributed in 2008 compared to 10 billion this year, according to The Post) it takes on other roles: census, monitoring of the review of the Code of the road, tracking down the deterioration of urban…Now, in the framework of an experiment carried out in the Hauts-de-France, 19 factors volunteers spend for their distribution in railway stations, now empty of personnel.

According to the document of the project “Watchman Stops at Stations” consulted by the AFP, “only the stations and stops placed in the path of a tour, the” factor “will be the subject of a mission to watch. The factor will be “in areas accessible to the public” and must “ensure that there are no abnormalities”, referring to an established list. The “stations and stops” were “rarely more than two docks” and contain equipment limited to what is strictly necessary”, also specifies the document. The factor will therefore not have to perform manipulations of any kind, care being of course left to the agents of the railway company.
Less mail to distribute
“These are new services offered to the factors that have less mail to distribute, but who continue to walk the streets of France,” explains The Post. The result of this experiment will be made public “in the first quarter” and the French SNCF will choose, or not, to continue the adventure.

If this experiment meets a new organisation of working time of the agents, the union South Rail did not fail to express his disapproval. He denounces as well the job cuts “while outsourcing the work of the workers with external service providers”.
