The Holocaustleugnerin Ursula Haverbeck has failed with her appeal against a prison sentence due to popular incitement. The upper regional Court of Celle in Lower Saxony decided not to abolish Haverbecks prison sentence of two years without probation. The 89-year-old was convicted in eight cases at end of August 2017 because of popular incitement.

A court spokeswoman said on grounds that no legal errors were found in ruling of Verden District Court. This makes verdict valid.
The procedure at District court Verden 2017 was also an appeal procedure. Haverbeck was originally sentenced to two and a half years in prison in November 2016 by District Court of Verden. She had been accused of writing several posts in which she claimed that Auschwitz concentration camp was not an extermination camp, but a labor camp.
In ir opinion, people have not been gassed. The texts were published in magazine’s Voice of Reich. Their defence had called for an acquittal because ir statements were protected by right to freedom of expression.

The NDR magazine Panorama quotes Haverbeck by saying that she does not yet know exactly how it is going to go on. Supporters would have suggested an escape abroad. “I’m not going to question my old-age flag,” Haverbeck told station.
Haverbeck had been convicted several times for sedition. In November 2017, District Court of Detmold confirmed anor verdict after Haverbeck was sentenced to 14 months in prison. In this case too, it was about sedition. However, she did not have a prison sentence according to NDR information yet.
