On evening of Bundestag election, SPD chief Martin Schulz still decided: Social Democrats would not participate again in a grand coalition. After failure of Jamaica probes, he completed a government formation with union again.

But federal president Frank-Walter Steinmeier has been printing for first few weeks: he is “waiting for a willingness to talk” from all parties. “Those who apply for political responsibility in elections must not push mselves when y are held in ir hands.” This sentence was primarily for SPD, to withdraw from its no to government participation.

After a meeting between Schulz and Steinmeier on Thursday, SPD now departs from its previous determination: a new edition of Grand coalition no longer categorically excludes party. But Schulz wants to question party base: “If talks lead us to participate in a government education in whatever form and in whatever constellation, members of our party will vote on it.”

There are numerous possibilities for government involvement, some like new edition of Grand coalition, are realistic, ors, like a Kenyan alliance, are probably rar unrealistic. What do you think of it as a SPD voter? Is decision to make discussions with Union a step in right direction? Or does party reveal its stance? Are you hoping for a reelection or are you afraid of it? Is party leader Schulz right man at top? Post your thoughts in comment area.
