Three days after Los Angeles massacre, motives of assassin are still unclear. The interrogation of friend of 64-year-old Stephen Paddock by US federal police FBI did not provide any new findings. According to government officials, re has been no evidence that 62-year-old woman had knowledge of paddock plans. Similarly, her lawyer, who had a statement from his client in Los Angeles, commented. “It never occurred to me in any sense that he was planning a violent crime against anyone,” Paddock’s girlfriend was quoted.

Marilou Danley – originally from Philippines and owned by Australian citizenship – had returned to United States on Wednesday from a family visit to Philippines and was promptly questioned by FBI. After that, she let her know nothing of plans of her life companion to have known: “He never said anything to me or did anything that I could have understood as a warning that such a terrible thing would happen”. She knew paddock as a “friendly, loving, silent man.” She loved him and hoped for a “quiet common future” with him.

Two weeks ago, paddock booked her a plane ticket to visit her family in Philippines, reported Danley. At time of stay, when paddock transferred 100,000 dollars for purchase of a house, she initially feared that he would end relationship with her. According to media reports, Paddock met a few years ago at a casino in Reno in state of Nevada, where she worked as a hostess. The later mass murderer was supposed to have been a passionate player and frequented casinos.
On Sunday evening, Paddock had opened fire to concert visitors during a country concert in Las Vegas from his room on 32 floor of a hotel. He killed 58 people and later also himself; 489 people were injured. According to Sheriff Joseph Lombardo, perpetrator hoarding in a total of 47 firearms in various places, indicating that he had planned attack thoroughly – and possibly also had support from an accomplice. So far, police have not yet identified a suspect. Also, Danley is not classified by police as suspicious, but merely as a “person of interest”.

According to FBI information, re is no evidence that assassination has a terrorist background. Paddock is described as a single offender. His motives are also so puzzling because he does not fit into perpetrator profiles of similar massacres. He was considered wealthy and had no criminal record. There has been no evidence of mental illness or social alienation. Moreover, re are no signs of extreme political or ideological beliefs.
On Wednesday, US president Donald Trump and his wife Melania visited victims of massacre in a hospital and a command center of police, where president acknowledged use of policemen, doctors and or aides and his solidarity with survivors expressed. In coming months “we will all have to contend with horror,” said Trump, calling America “a nation in mourning”. The president did not comment on state of investigation. He merely described sniper as “very sick” and “very crazy” man.
