A man is dead, and another man was seriously wounded in shootings Saturday afternoon on the West and Southwest sides.

The fatal attack happened shortly after 3:30 p.m. in the 4900 block of West Van Buren Street in the Austin neighborhood, police said.

A 33-year-old man was seated in a vehicle when a silver sedan pulled up and someone fired shots, striking him multiple times in the body. He was taken in serious condition to Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood where he was pronounced dead a short time later, police said.

The latest attack happened shortly before 4 p.m. in the 6600 block of South Springfield Avenue in the West Lawn neighborhood.

A 28-year-old man was shot multiple times while he was a passenger in a car. The driver took him to Holy Cross Hospital where he was listed in critical condition.

Police said the victim was expected to be transferred to Mount Sinai Hospital. 

No one was in custody and police were investigating.
