A teenage boy was shot and killed late Sunday in Pittsburgh's Northview Heights neighborhood, police said Monday morning.

Police responded shortly before 11:30 p.m. to Mt. Pleasant Road for a report of someone shot in a courtyard, according to Public Safety spokeswoman Sonya Toler.

Paramedics transported the 16-year-old boy to Allegheny General Hospital where he was later pronounced dead, Toler said.

Police are continuing to investigate.
