SCHENECTADY — A 19-year-old man is expected to get a 20-year state prison term after he admitted gunning down Marquel Fallen inside a car last year, prosecutors said Friday.

Naseyf Salahuddin, 19, pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in the Jan. 30, 2016 slaying near Germania Avenue. Salahuddin got into the rear seat of a parked car Fallen was driving and fired five shots from a .40 caliber semi-automatic handgun into the back of Fallen’s seat, according to the Schenectady County District Attorney’s office. Two bullets hit Fallen, 22, in the lower back, leading to his death.

Salahuddin was a known member of the Ku-Gang, and Fallen’s execution was planned to advance the gang’s interests, prosecutors said. Fallon was believed to be dealing narcotics without permission and not sharing proceeds with the gang. Salahuddin fled and hid in Albany but was arrested on June 8.

Sentencing is scheduled for April 13.

The case was investigated by Schenectady detectives Ryan Maloney and Ed Ritz.
