691 000 start-up business in 2018
The creations of companies in france have reached a record high in 2018 with 691, 000 new businesses, i.e. 100 000 more than in 2017 (+17 % in one year). A progression that was accelerated, since if the trend was already on the rise it was, however, lower in the previous two years.
Micro-enterprises, up 28%
These good results are driven by micro-enterprises that register for the last year, a rise of 28%, which represents 66 500 registrations additional. The entry into force on 1 January 2018 of a new legislative provision allowing for the doubling of the ceilings of turnover of the micro-entrepreneurs partly explains this increase.
Spectacular bond to traditional companies with 308 000 creations
They know, they also, a soaring spectacular with 308 000 creations. This is their highest level since the Insee publishes this data (since 2009). They are mostly determined by the individual companies classic designs are in progress for 30 300, in 20% increase. Less dynamic, the creations of companies observe an increase of 2%, representing 3 200 extra creations.
With 70 400 new businesses, the sector “transportation and warehousing” is the most-bearer
The sector “transport and storage” is the most important contributor to this overall increase in business creations. With 70 400 new businesses, it accounts for 10 % of all creations. It is pulled by the postal operations and mail delivery, including home delivery. Again the creations of micro-enterprises hold a large share in this booming sector (+ 18 600). The second area will be the most dynamic activities professional, scientific and technical.
The creators of businesses are moving on average at the age of 36.
In 2018, as in 2017, the creators of the individual companies have on average 36 years old. The share of under 30 years of age is slightly higher (38% in 2018, compared to 37% in 2017). However, it is higher among micro-entrepreneurs (43 %) than among the creators of the individual companies classic (31 %).
