Spirit, courage and excitement were all on full display during the Pennsylvania Miss Amazing pageant held Saturday night at Lehigh Valley Charter High School for the Arts in Bethlehem.

It was the second year for the event, which celebrates the abilities of girls and women with disabilities.

Twenty participants from throughout the state — many from the Lehigh Valley — took part in the two-and-a-half-hour event that included evening wear and talent performances.

Six queens were chosen from the same number of age groups that divide up Miss Amazing hopefuls from age 5 and up.

Joan Reyes, of Allentown, Reilly Bauer, of Lansford, Lalka Kline, of Allentown, Sydney Laabs, of Hawley, Kim Lagala, of Allentown, and Shernell Pierre, of Emmaus, were all chosen as queens to represent Pennsylvania on the national level of Miss Amazing if they wish.

All of the evening’s participants received flowers, a crown and a medal for taking part in the festivities.
