A five-year-old boy was bitten in the head and leg by a neighbor’s dog while visiting Val-des-Monts in Outaouais on Sunday afternoon.
The child was taken to hospital for treatment of the injuries.
“The owners of the dog, an Australian Shepherd, have difficulty explaining what happened,” MRC des Collines police said in a statement on Sunday.
The animal has been placed in quarantine while a behavioral assessment is made by the SPCA, it was said.
This is a second similar event to occur in the last week in the MRC des Collines. On May 23, emergency services were called regarding a six-year-old boy who had just been attacked in the face by a dog belonging to family friends in the Lake Teeples area of La Pêche.
