Sam Burns turned in the best card of the day at 65, climbing 16 spots to win the Charles Schwab Tournament in overtime on Sunday in Fort Worth, Texas.

Burns was seven shots off the lead when he made his first tee shot. He notably stalled six birdies during the nine to go. He eventually managed seven, to which he added only two bogeys.

While he was having fun on the course, the leader after 54 holes, Scottie Scheffler, was struggling. He also committed two bogeys, but was unable to cut a single shot from par, so he signed a 72 card. As a result, the two men needed 271 shots (-9) to complete the four regulation rounds.

In overtime, Burns birdied the 18th pennant, while his rival settled for par. The 25-year-old golfer thus won a second tournament this season and a fourth in his career in the PGA.

Bad conclusion for Canadians

The Canadians in contention did not have their best day on Sunday. By signing a last card of 76 (6), Adam Svensson slipped 23 positions. His total of 282 (2) placed him in 40th place. After starting his round with a birdie, he then committed three bogeys and two double bogeys.

Nick Taylor (74) for his part fell 10 places, finishing the event in 48th place, at 283 (3).
