Micah Laplante is a Youtubeur specialist product testing of new technologies. And in his latest video, he launched an absurd challenge. After a joke of his wife, he decided to set up a computer … with pasta.

The “Pasta PC” (“pc pasta”) is a computer dedicated to streaming multimedia (streaming videos or music over the Internet) and a few games. For the build, Micah Laplante has used an old damaged tablet. It has removed the essential components: motherboard (main element of a computer, which allows you to bind all of its components, such as a hard disk or a memory), battery, start button and connection ports. He then built the computer case with the lasagna and rigatonis (precision: the pasta were not cooked) that it was assembled with hot glue, electrical tape (which allows for locking the electrical wires) and the painting, in order to give the illusion of the tomato sauce.

once finished, the “Pasta” PC worked. Micah Laplante was connected to his tv and was able to install the platform of video games to Steam, the Chrome browser, but also streaming video services Netflix and Hulu. He was able to play the video game Rocket League , and has watched videos on Hulu and YouTube. However, this was short-lived. The computer required about three years of updates to Windows 10, the operating system of Microsoft. If the installation of updates enabled Micah Laplante to connect its Xbox, it has also caused some problems. For example, Hulu does not work anymore: when the Youtubeur watching a video, the service would no longer work.

Micah Laplante is not the only fun to build computers to look absurd. His video is a derivative (rather extreme) of a practice known as “case modding”. It is to change the housing of a computer or the chassis (frame serving to enclose or support something) of a video game console. This practice is often the work of amateurs, but also some specialized companies, with results ranging from the rather cute to the downright absurd. The Computex, the largest exhibition devoted to new technologies, which is held every year in Taipei, for example, is the opportunity to expose this kind of computers the original. The edition 2018 has been the opportunity to observe machines in the form of aquarium, convertible car or even a robot.
