MADRID, 20 Nov. (EUROPA PRESS) –
Mostostal Warszawa, Acciona’s subsidiary in Poland, has signed a contract with the national Highway Directorate of that country to build a 12.5-kilometre section of a new highway between Iskrzynia and Domaradz, in the south of the country, for 226 million of euros.
This is the third section of the new S-19 Expressway, in which Acciona is already working on another 10.3 kilometers, including a 2.2-kilometre tunnel, after being awarded this other contract at the beginning of the year for 500 million euros.
The new works include seven flyovers, eight bridges, eight highway viaducts, three animal crossings (two for medium-sized animals and one for large animals), three culverts and various facilities along additional roads.
The project incurs a major engineering challenge because the Domaradz-Iskrzynia section crosses an area with a complex geological structure, which requires the construction of a number of pre-engineered structures, such as some pillars up to 30 meters high.
Two traveler service centers will also be built, with parking spaces, toilets and rest areas. In the future, it will be possible to expand them with gas stations and catering facilities.
Likewise, the highway will be equipped with road safety devices, infrastructure of the traffic management system and environmental protection devices, according to what the company reported in the act of signing the contract.
Acciona has recently been awarded other contracts in Poland worth 170 million euros, such as the design and construction of the Opatow ring road, the construction of the new Faculty of Psychology in the Ochota district, the design and construction of the northern connector with the Opatow ring road or a new residential and service building in the city of Poznan.
