A Northampton man already facing assault charges in an attack against his wife is in more trouble after allegedly refusing to stay away from the victim.

Charged is Gabriel Bracero, 35, of the 600 block of Main Street.

A borough officer at 7:37 a.m. Oct. 8 was dispatched to Bracero’s home for the report of a domestic incident. Bracero was in a 2010 Toyota Scion backing up in the driveway and hit the officer’s patrol vehicle, police said.

Bracero then pulled forward, cut across a grassy area, over a curb and onto Main Street, where he accelerated despite the officer activating emergency lights and sirens, according to police.

The officer chased Bracero on residential streets with speeds reaching 75 miles per hour until Bracero made it into Catasauqua and the officer lost sight of the Toyota, police said.

Bracero later was arrested and arraigned on simple assault, fleeing police and related charged before District Judge Robert Hawke. The judge had ordered Bracero to find a new residence and stay away from the victim.

Police said Bracero ignored orders at 6:34 p.m. Jan. 30 and returned to the Main Street home, where he confronted two males. He allegedly demanded to know where his wife was, poked his finger at both men and made threatening comments.

Bracero is charged in the latest incident with three felonies: intimidating witnesses (two counts) and criminal trespass. He was arraigned Monday before District Judge Richard Yetter III, who set bail at $100,000.

In lieu of bail, Bracero was sent to Northampton County Prison.
