MADRID, 19 Oct. (EUROPA PRESS) –
BlaBlaCar, a shared ride platform, has reached eight million users in Spain, with an average age of 32 years and distributed in 57% men and 43% women, who connect 90,000 meeting points in the country.
The Autonomous Community with the most users is Andalusia, where they amount to more than 2.3 million, followed by the Community of Madrid, with more than 1.3 million, and the Valencian Community, with more than 950,000 users. However, the region with the highest penetration is Extremadura, where more than 30% of the population is a BlaBlaCar user.
The regions that have experienced the greatest increase in users compared to last year have been La Rioja (46%), Asturias (43%), Catalonia (39%) and Castilla La Mancha (38%), an increase that has been influenced the connection of small towns, since BlaBlaCar has connected 84% of the 8,131 towns in the country in the last year, 9% more than in the previous year.
The average distance traveled on each shared trip is 274 kilometers, 4 kilometers more than in 2021, at an average price of 14 euros per trip, an amount that has increased by two euros compared to 2021 due, to a large extent, to the fuel price increase.
“Our goal is to make mobility more efficient, more accessible and more sustainable. The fact that more and more people are using shared cars is a sign that we are part of the solution to the great challenges, in economic and environmental terms, that we are facing” , assures the Director of Operations of BlaBlaCar for Spain and Portugal, Florent Bannwarth.
