The German director Fatih Akin has not been nominated for an Oscar with his film from nowhere. In category of best non-English-language film, he had initially made it to shortlist, i.e. a list of nine candidates. However, he does not count among five nominated films, as responsible Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) in Los Angeles announced. Instead, five works from Chile (a fantastic woman), Lebanon ( Insult), Russia (Loveless), Sweden ( square) and Hungary (on body and Soul) were nominated.

Akin’s film tells of a terrorist attack by two neo-Nazis in Hamburg and has been awarded several prizes, just like leading actress Diane Kruger. These include Golden Globe, Critics ‘ Choice Award and an award for Kruger at Cannes Film Festival.

The drama of Mexican director Guillermo del Toro has, among or things, opportunities for awards in categories as best film, for best director and best Leading actress. Since 1929, highest award of Hollywood has been presented in different categories more than 3,000 times.
