Schleswig-Holstein’s ex-prime Minister Torsten Albig (SPD) changes well half a year after his election defeat in economy. He will work as a corporate representative for DHL group in Brussels, he said. In January he will be entering his new position.

Albig led from 2012 to 2017 in Schleswig-Holstein a coalition of SPD, Greens and party of Danish minority SSW. However, Landtag election in May 2017 lost SPD. A week after defeat, Albig announced his withdrawal from politics. After election of Daniel Günr (CDU) to his successor, he largely withdrew from public. He did not perceive his landtag mandate. Before moving to top of provincial government, he was spokesman for several federal finance ministers and corporate spokesman of Dresdner Bank in Frankfurt, and last until 2012 for three years as Kiel Lord Mayor.
Already in his active time as a politician, native Bremer had not ruled out a later career change. “It would not be a dramatic break in my life if after Frankfurter, Berliner and Kiel time still an activity in London, Chicago or Buenos Aires would stand,” said SPD politician at end of 2014.
