This year was one of warmest eight years for Germany since beginning of wear records. This is result of data collected over year by German Wear Service (DWD). Not only unusually warm, but also unusually changeable was wear. In particular, a cold dip in April had “disastrous effects on already very advanced vegetation”, says DWD. This would be wear extremes like heat waves and hurricanes.

Preceded by temperature fall in April was warmest March since start of measurement. In May, wear service already recorded first heat wave. The highest value of year, 37.2 degrees, was measured in June in Trier-Petrisberg. In January, coldest night experienced a ride in Winkl, where minus 26.3 degrees were measured. There was also highest snow cover with 74 centimeters.
Most of rain in a single day fell in Berlin-Tegel in June: 196.9 liters per square metre. The driest remains norrn Upper Rhine Ditch and souastern Harz region. October was also one of warmest since beginning of measurement. In autumn, Hurricanes Xavier and Warten moved over Germany, through which several people were killed.
On average, this year it was 9.6 degrees warm: that is 1.4 degrees more than in period from 1961 to 1990. According to DWD, 2016 was also a very warm year with a medium temperature of 9.5 degrees Celsius. The warmest years since beginning of wear records 1880 were in Germany 2014 and 2015. Maximum values are becoming more and more frequent: eight of ten warmest ever measured years have existed since beginning of 21st century. The German wear service collects data from around 2,000 measuring stations throughout Germany.
