On grounds of delay, Tesla spoke only cloudy of start-up difficulties and bottlenecks in production. But y wanted to get a grip on matter in short term. In December, production is expected to be already at 20 000 Model 3 per month.
Lack of experience
But, as Wall Street Journal reports, it does not look like production is coming to a rapid start. Parts of model, “unnoticed by analysts, investors, and hundreds of thousands of customers,” would still be completed in manual work. Now, or industry insiders see this process far less dramatic. Going up a production within a few months-this is a big job, just for a company like Tesla.
Although company is accustomed to higher numbers in its two or models, Tesla produced 84 000 copies of S and X models last year, but company still lacks experience in many areas.
Countless processes have to be coordinated with a new model, constantly needs to be readjusted, so that products will end up working as originally planned. In this respect, it is also not entirely unusual for vehicles to be hand-made at this stage.
At most unusual is fact that a boss so often trumpeted out appointments, which later prove to be waste. Only on Friday Musk postponed presentation of new electric semi-trailer Tesla-Semi, which he affectionately calls “Beast”, from end of October to mid-November. It was originally planned for September. Much else is still to be said: Puerto Rico has just asked if Musk after recent hurricane could help to electrify country again. He also wants to bring people to Mars with his big fucking rocket from 2024. 2024? Exactly, says Musk. The timetable is ambitious, but “no mistake”.
