TPE (thermoplastic elastomer) is a class of copolymers that can be plasticized at high temperatures and has rubber elasticity at room temperature, and SBC is a kind of TPE, whose products include SBS, SEBS, SIS and SEPS, which are widely used in footwear. , asphalt modification, resin modification, adhesives, food packaging, medical equipment, sports equipment, automotive and consumer electronics.

The project uses the complete sets of SBS and SEBS solutions developed by Sinopec, including a clean manufacturing method that can create SBCs of various grades and performances to meet customers’ product customization needs. Meanwhile, it is using Hainan Refining’s styrene and butadiene

Sinopec has been driving synthetic rubber R&D in China for more than five decades. In the 1970s, the Yanshan Petrochemical Research Institute developed the butyllithium preparation and SBS polymerization technologies. Sinopec is one of only three companies in the world – and the only one in China – capable of industrially producing new SEPS products with environmentally friendly technology. Baling New Material SEPS plant, with an annual production capacity of 20,000 tons, started production in August 2017.
