LONDON, February 7, 2024 /PRNewswire/ — BE OPEN Art, an online gallery designed by Elena Baturina’s BE OPEN think tank, is pleased to announce the Artist of the Year 2023, selected by majority vote from the ratings monthly.

BE OPEN congratulates talented Rwandan visual artist Jean D’amour Imanishimwe. Graduate of Nyundo School of Art. Since 2017, he is co-founder of the HUZA ARTS RWANDA gallery whose aim is to give a platform to young local artists to exhibit and sell their artworks.

With the aim of making young talents known, every month for three years, BE OPEN Art invites art fans to choose the best artist among the 20 exhibited in the online gallery. The artist whose works obtain the most votes throughout the year will become the Artist of the Year and will receive 1,000 euros.

To be featured in the gallery, BE OPEN Art selects artists early in their career who emphasize social awareness, philosophical meaning and aesthetic solutions to the ills of the contemporary world, such as inequality, lack of diversity, environmental problems and consumerism. In a way, the project sees its mission as finding new influencers on the art scene, and invites everyone to contribute to this process.
