Announcement made at the end of a week-long European event in China

BEIJING, February 7, 2024/PRNewswire/ — The week-long European Grand Finale of “Seeds for the Future” brought together a select group of “Seeds for the Future” alumni from 18 countries Europeans, concluded on January 23. Throughout the week, participants attended insightful sessions with technology experts, delved into the realms of connectivity and innovation, and participated in engaging roundtables on crucial topics such as diversity, green skills, and sustainability.

At the apex of the event, the Closing Ceremony, the theme of international cooperation as a cornerstone to forging a sustainable future for European talent resonated. As we bid farewell to this enriching week of collaboration, Huawei proudly recognized the collective steps taken to foster innovation, knowledge sharing and shared commitment to a sustainable future.

Professor Shahbaz Khan, Director of the UNESCO Multi-Sectoral Regional Office for East Asia, said during the closing event: “We are delighted to see that the visions of UNESCO and Huawei coincide in eradicating digital illiteracy among young people. In February 2023, Huawei will become an associate member of the UNESCO Global Alliance for Literacy (GAL). Also at the closing ceremony, Huawei Europe Senior Vice President Radoslaw Kedzia announced a planned expansion of Seeds for the Future in Europe: “Huawei is proud to unveil a new chapter of the “Seeds for the future” program: an immersive edition and fully in-person that will take place in Rome, Italy, in July 2024. This initiative, driven by the spirit of collaboration and international dialogue, will bring together students from various corners of Europe to converge in one city, fostering a vibrant ecosystem for learning and Tech4Good’s collaborative startup idea development.”

Previously, Huawei had announced the launch of the Seeds for the Future scholarship program, designed to support talented ICT students from the Netherlands, Bulgaria and Cyprus. This initiative underscores the company’s strong commitment to cultivating and nurturing exceptional talent.

Underlining the importance of these opportunities for students, the Ambassador of Cyprus, Martha Mavrommatis, on behalf of the Minister of Education, Sports and Youth, Athena Michaelidou, congratulated Huawei on the success of the event and the students for all their efforts to promote of sustainable and environmentally friendly development: “Companies like Huawei are making investments on their own, in parallel with institutional initiatives, such as those of the European Union and Member States. Huawei’s Seeds for the Future program, as its name suggests, is deeply committed to identifying local talent and improving knowledge exchange between professionals and young people.
