HANOVER, Germany and SEOUL, South Korea, March 25, 2024 /PRNewswire/ — HYUNDAI TRANSYS, a leading company in mobility of the future, has won two awards at the “iF Design Award 2024” in Germany, one of the competitions most prestigious international design.

Organized by the International Design Forum Germany, the iF Design Award is considered one of the three largest design competitions in the world, along with the Red Dot Design Award in Germany and the International Design Excellence Awards (IDEA) in the United States.

The competition evaluates the uniqueness and influence of design in nine disciplines: product design, packaging design, communication design, interior architecture, professional concept, service design, architecture, user experience (UX) and user interface ( UI). This year, the competition featured entries from 72 countries around the world, with more than 11,000 entries competing for the awards.

HYUNDAI TRANSYS has gained international recognition for its innovative design in future mobility by achieving a double victory with its Urban Air Mobility (UAM) cabin concept and its Future Mobility Concept seat in the professional concept discipline.

The HYUNDAI TRANSYS UAM cabin concept stands out because it marks the first time that a Korean auto parts company has received an award for offering a space solution for the future UAM.

This concept includes innovative features such as folding seats (allowing easy forward and backward conversion), slim seat design (lightweight, tensioned material with exposed frames), privacy screen (using translucent materials), and maximized luggage space ( Optimized storage space under the seat with bench-style cushion design). These ideas efficiently organize the limited space within the UAM and at the same time protect the privacy of passengers.

Last year, HYUNDAI TRANSYS was shortlisted with its UAM cabin concept at the Crystal Cabin Awards, the Oscars of the aircraft cabin design industry.

The Future Mobility Concept seat embodies the theme “Shift towards regenerative mobility” and marks its second international design award after winning the Red Dot Design Award 2023.

The seat uses fabric made from recycled leather yarns combined with regenerated polyethylene terephthalate (PET) yarns in its main seat area, and applies a weaving technique using leather scraps in the cushion area, thus minimizing leather waste. and aiming for a sustainable orientation for the mobility seats of the future.

Seo Seung-woo, General Manager of HYUNDAI TRANSYS Seating Division, said: “It is an honor to be recognized with the iF Design Award for HYUNDAI TRANSYS’ commitment to delivering new experiences and value in the mobility interiors of the future. “We will continue to lead to improve customer comfort and safety while creating sustainable spaces for future mobility.”
