SHENZHEN, China, Jan. 5, 2024/PRNewswire/ — Thousands of investors, startups and industry enthusiasts packed the hall and tuned in to the finals of the 2023 PHBS-CJBS Global Project Competition. In December, the spectacular grand final was held, in which the year’s winners and other important announcements were announced.
Initiated in 2020 by Peking University HSBC Business School (PHBS) and Cambridge Judge Business School (CJBS), the Global Project Competition saw the participation of nearly 200 high-quality startups from around the world in its fourth edition, which They presented their innovations in various fields such as new energy and green economy, artificial intelligence, biotechnology and medical technology, and smart manufacturing.
A series of submission rounds throughout 2023 narrowed the competition down to ten national and international finalists, each of whom presented their business plan in the grand finale to the jury, made up of prestigious academics, investors and entrepreneurs. Six finalists came in third place and three in second place, with the winning prize going to E3A Healthcare, a startup created in 2019 at the National University of Singapore, for its world-class medical devices and healthcare management solutions tailored to healthcare health of newborns and women.
Supported by the Shenzhen Municipal Development and Reform Commission, the Scientific and Technological Innovation Committee and numerous venture capital institutions, incubators, scientific research institutes and renowned industrial leaders, the PHBS-CJBS Global Project Competition will not has stopped growing over the past four years, reflecting the schools’ global influence in the venture capital field and their passion for fostering startup communities.
To celebrate the spirit of innovation and entrepreneurship, the event also served to present two new institutes created and sponsored by PHBS. The first is the Qianhai Institute of China-Britain International Innovation Space, located in the Qianhai International Talent Hub, whose objective is to offer comprehensive support to emerging companies. The second, the Innovation Engine, is led by the PHBS Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center and will work with professional mentors to provide guidance and incubation to science and engineering students, as well as academics with entrepreneurial ideas.
The grand finale kicked off the PHBS-CJBS 2024 Global Project Competition, which will continue to focus on early-stage technology teams that have not yet reached the series B funding phase. The first roadshow will be held in January, and the finals will take place in October next year.
