Jersey City police recovered drugs and a loaded gun and arrested two city men — including a convicted killer — after a traffic stop Thursday during Winter Storm Niko, authorities said.

Police say Shyquan Bethea, 29, of Bergen Avenue, a passenger in the vehicle, had a .40-caliber, semi-automatic handgun that was reported stolen out of the Georgia, police said.

The driver, Curtis Felder, 32, of Union Street, was charged with multiple weapons offenses, receiving stolen property, conspiracy, and multiple narcotics offenses. He pleaded guilty to a 2001 manslaughter in July 2004.

Bethea, who attempted to flee after the 1:30 p.m. traffic stop on Bostwick Avenue, was charged with aggravated assault on a police officer, possession of a weapon for unlawful purposes, unlawful possession of a weapon, certain persons not to have weapons, possession of a weapon w/CDS, receiving stolen property, conspiracy, obstruction, resisting arrest, and multiple narcotics offenses.

The gun was loaded with 14 hollow-point rounds, police said, noting that a large bag of marijuana was recovered during the stop.

Bethea has served time for drug distribution, aggravated assault, robbery and absconding from parole. He was released on March 18, 2016, after serving most of the previous seven years in prison or jail, according to the state Department of Corrections.
