CHERRY HILL TWP. — The adult son of well-known Philadelphia attorney Joseph Santaguida succumbed to injuries he sustained in a Jan. 31 fire at their township home.

The Camden County prosecutor’s office announced that a 56-year-old man who was injured in the fire had died Wednesday, but did not identify him.

As first reported by Philly.com, a family friend has identified Anthony Santaguida as the victim in Facebook posts.

A Philly.com reporter contacted Joseph Santaguida, who described his son as a “good son” but declined to comment further.

Arson investigators are looking into how the fire started, according to a release from the prosecutor’s office.

Cherry Hill Fire Chief Thomas Kolbe said the fire at 1013 Red Oak Drive was reported by neighbors and firefighters who responded had to force their way into the home. They found the man upstairs and treated him on scene before taking him to a Philadelphia hospital, Kolbe said

Joseph Santaguida has defended reputed members of the mob including Joseph “Mousie” Massimino and Joseph “Skinny Joey” Merlino, according to Philly.com.
