Belgium is located at the 12th position in the annual ranking of global press freedom conducted by Reporters without borders (RSF) and released on Tuesday. The Flat country lost three places compared to last year, due to planned cuts in the public service flemish VRT, which have caused many protests.
The flemish government, led by Jan Jambon (N-VA), has planned budget cuts in a range of sectors. These savings will include the VRT, which is a real effort of € 40 million by 2024.
