The new land will have two main rides — the Na’vi River Journey, a family-friendly river ride through the bioluminescent rainforest made famous in James Cameron’s 2009 film, and the more intense Avatar Flight of Passage, where flyers ride on a banshee over Pandora.
The Na’vi River Journey lets guests relax in a canoe while gliding through exotic plants and animals and culminates with a visit to the Na’vi shaman.
Disney made the rest of Pandora land reminiscent of the Academy Award-winning film with floating mountains, glowing rainforests and even those fierce and slightly terrifying banshees.
Fans may have scratched their heads at the announcement of an Avatar world at Disney, seeing as the film debuted eight years ago. But creator James Cameron, who also had a big say in the look of Pandora at Disney, revealed last year that he will make four Avatar sequels with the first coming in 2018.
Disney CEO Bob Iger also announced the much-anticipated Star Wars land at Hollywood Studios would open in 2019.
