The Friendly Spot is now open earlier, for all your chilling, munching and family-friendly bar needs.

Now, the open-air bar and Southtown landmark is open noon until midnight daily, said co-owner Jody Newman.

“People are asking us to open early,” she said in a phone interview.

The establishment is known for its craft beer selection mellow atmosphere, kids’ play area and bar munchies such as burgers, fries, hummus, chicken sandwiches, fish sandwiches and roasted veggies. Newman said the bar would soon launch a menu with new vegetable items and more lunch-style items for the earlier hours.

The Friendly Spot is at 943 S. Alamo St., 210-224-2337, thefriendlyspot.com.
