The premiere date for “Orange Is the New Black” Season 5 has been released!
Thanks to a teaser released on Twitter, it was revealed that fans will have until June 9 to catch up on the previous four seasons of the Netflix series that follows the women in an upstate New York prison.
Season 4 ended with a major cliffhanger. When fans last saw the inmates at Litchfield, Daya (Dascha Polanco) was pointing a gun at a prison guard and the surrounding prisoners were encouraging her to fire at him.
In the teaser for the upcoming season, viewers can see close up of all the stars in character with various emotion on their faces, all seemingly stressed.
It is also clear that fans will get answers on whether Daya decided to shoot the guard as Polanco is the last person to be featured in the teaser still holding onto the gun.
“When I read it, it was incredible, when we shot it, it was…intense. It’s really, really intense. It manages…as intense as it all is, it still manages to have an irreverence and a spin that is funny and thoughtful,” Laverne Cox, who plays Sophia Burset, told E! News.
“Orange Is the New Black” Season 5 will be different from previous seasons as it will take place over the course of three days in 15 episodes.
“I think the stakes are higher in this season than they have been in a while just by virtue of the compressed time and seeing people in compressed circumstance really raises the stakes,” Taylor Schilling, who plays Piper Chapman, told the publication.
