Kevin Crawford, his wife, Anita, and daughter Kirsten will be laid to rest next week on the grounds of St. John Lutheran Church in Mount Prospect, a place that was the site for so many important events in their lives.

It was there Pastor Jeff Gavin performed Kevin and Anita’s marriage ceremony and baptized all three of the Crawford children. Anita’s parents, Erwin and Ursel Schmidt, are longtime members of the church, so Gavin said he knew the entire family well.

“They were a loving, caring family,” Gavin said. “They displayed the traits of love and concern for their children and had the desire to be good Christians, attributes so rare today.”

The church, at 1100 Linneman Road in Mount Prospect, was also home to the Chicago Fire Juniors Gold Soccer club that Kevin Crawford started in 2011. Gavin said club members set up equipment on the big open field owned by the church to practice and play.

A visitation for Kevin, Anita and Kirsten is set for 3 to 8 p.m. Monday at Friedrichs Funeral Home, at 320 Central Road in Mount Prospect. A second visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. John Lutheran Church. The funeral service will follow the second visitation. After the funeral service, Kevin, Anita and Kirsten will be buried in the cemetery behind the church.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Crawford Children’s Education Fund. For funeral information, call (847) 255-7800 or www.friedrichsfh.com.
