Would movie titles like “No Country for Orange Men,” “Star Juarez, Episode Juan,” or “Taco Stand by Me,” have you running to the box office?

The hashtag #MakeAFilmMexican had Twitter comedians sprinting to their timelines on Wednesday to get their jokes in.

What eventually became a trending topic on the social media site looks to have been started as a joke between two friends earlier in the day.

Thousands of puns later, the hashtag became something that poked fun at Mexican upbringing, names like “Juan” and President Trump’s planned border wall.

But as with many online trends, others also saw it as an opportunity for racism.
