Happy Valentine’s Day weekend everyone out there! While “the big day” doesn’t come around until Tuesday, there are still plenty of fun things to do. Yes, this weekend isn’t just about a romantic dinner, or expensive gifts — there’s plenty of events around the Garden State to enjoy!
AN EPIC WEEKEND AT CONVENTION HALL IN ASBURY PARK: It’s a jam-packed winter weekend at the famed venue at 1300 Ocean Avenue, Asbury Park:
On Friday night, WWE’s NXT brand returns for its annual house show. WWE’s thrilling “third brand” of WWE delivered a killer show last year, and is looking to repeat things in 2017. The event will feature such top stars as: Shinsuke Nakamura, NXT champion Bobby Roode,the returning Kassius Ohno, NXT Women’s champion Asuka, and Johnny Gargano and Tomasso Ciampa aka #DIY. This card is subject to change, and tickets are limited, but remaining. $20-$75. Friday, 6:30 p.m.

Once wrestling is over Convention Hall will transform a roller skating palace known as “Roller Hall.” Roller Hall is an all day (into night) ’70s skating event taking place on Saturday and Sunday. There are three different sessions: kids and teens only skate during early hours of the event, then it’s all ages skating until nighttime. During the all ages there will be a special Donna Summer hour (Saturday) and Madonna hour (Sunday). Things get more “adult” at 10 p.m. on Saturday, and 8 p.m. on Sunday as local DJ Atom Worth spins hot roller disco music. $5-$20. Saturday 2 p.m. to 1:15 a.m., Sunday 10 a.m. to 9:15 p.m.
If skating isn’t your thing, there’s the first “Can’t Buy Me Love” Valentine’s Market, presented by the Asbury Park Bazaar. The market will be held in the Grand Arcade from 12 to 6 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. Music will by provided by The Beatles tribute group Hey Bulldog (Saturday 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.), and by Tyler of The Von Mons (12 p.m. to 3 p.m.) and Dentist (4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.) on Sunday. The market will have vendors of all kinds from the area, a photo booth, workshops, and a build your own hot toddy bar at Anchor’s Bend. Free. Saturday and Sunday 12 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Speaking of Anchor’s Bend, on Saturday night the restaurant will present its first “Lover’s Luau,” a Hawaiian themed Valentine’s Day event. The luau features a four-course Polynesian themed price fixed dinner, a specialty tiki cocktail menu, and music by surf band, Slowey and the Boats. $45. Saturday, 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.
And if none of these interests you at all there’s a free screening of “Dirty Dancing” starting at 7 p.m. at the Paramount Theatre which is adjacent to Convention Hall.
WRESTLEPRO BRINGS FORMER WWE STARS TO STARLAND BALLROOM: One of New Jersey’s premier wrestling promotions, WrestlePro, returns to the Starland Ballroom Friday. In addition to their talented crew of homegrown performers, the show will feature former WWE superstars Ryback, Cody Rhodes (aka Stardust), WWE Hall of Famer Rikishi, and Ashley Massaro as well as independent sensations Lio Rush, and Joey Janela, and “Lucha Underground” cast members Brian Cage, Taya, and Dulce Garcia aka Sexy Star. $20-$60. ATLANTIC CITY AUCTION AND CAR SHOW: In the market for a new ride? The Atlantic City Auction and Car Show will auction off roughly 400 cars Friday through Sunday. The event, which takes places in the Atlantic City Convention Center, is a prime spot for collector’s, those who are in need of some new wheels, and car enthusiasts to not only bid for a car, but to also marvel at these vast array of vehicles on display. NASCAR fans should be stoked because famed driver Joey Logano will be on hand signing autographs on Saturday and Sunday. You must purchase a ticket for a photo with Logano. $5-$25. MARC ANTHONY’S ROMANTIC SOUNDTRACK AT THE ROCK: International superstar Marc Anthony returns to the Prudential Center in Newark for his annual Valentine’s Day show. The multi-platinum singer and actor is internationally known his romantic ballads and high-energy dance hits (in both English and Spanish). The show will presented in a 360-degree setting so all parts of the arena can dance (and swoon) to Anthony’s performance. The Prudential Center will present a special Latin-inspired buffet at “The Restaurant at The Prudential Center” located on Infiniti Suite Level 1. JENKINSONS FAMILY DATE NIGHT: Can’t get a sitter to watch the kids this weekend? Then why not make them a part of your Valentine’s Day plans?
