“The Daily Show with Trevor Noah” Thursday night took on the brouhaha brewing in Passaic County over the possible renaming of a short stretch of road in residential Clifton to Dick Street.

NBC4 first tapped into the controversy earlier this week, reporting that the Clifton City Council was considering the change despite concerns that such a loaded name could reduce property values and make residents laughingstocks.

Dick Street currently runs between Houten and Howard avenues, but turns into Ellsworth street on the other side of Howard until it ends at Katherine Avenue. City officials believe changing the name of Ellsworth to Dick would make it easier for first responders to find it, although since the initial NBC report, city officials decided to drop Dick in favor of the less controversial Katherine, which accomplishes the same thing, according to CBS2. It is set to be voted on at the City Council meeting next week.

Host Trevor Noah sent correspondent Jordan Klepper to Clifton to get to the bottom of the situation, which he did with his signature restraint and class.  Watch for yourself.
