BORDENTOWN TOWNSHIP — It’s been one year since former NFL wide receiver Kevin Johnson opened his 120,000-square-foot fitness and wellness center and he says it has exceeded expectations.
“It’s been really good,” he said. “We’ve seen a lot of community support for the programs and amenities we have.”
Team85 Fitness & Wellness is the centerpiece of Team Campus Bordentown, a state-of-the-art sport, fitness and medical complex that took Johnson the better part of a decade to bring to fruition.
Johnson, who played for the Cleveland Browns and other teams, says the campus has created upwards of 450 jobs and Team85’s membership numbers in the thousands.
“With any business, there’s always some challenges, but I think we’ve been able to overcome a lot of them,” he said. “All of the ancillary services are working together and piggybacking and supporting each other.”
A look at how Team85 came to life
Its amenities include two floors of fitness and cardio equipment, group exercise studios, sports training and leagues, swimming pools, a 45,000-square-foot indoor turf field, a cafe and a salon and spa.
Johnson says he always looking at the latest technology and ways the gym can stay ahead of the curve.
“We’ll continue to work on weaknesses, play on our strengths and continue to add more members to our current roster,” he said.
The campus’ other tenants are Fulton Bank, Performance Spine and Sports Medicine, Daniels Vein and Cosmetic Center and St. Francis Medical Center.
The hospital moved its LIFE St. Francis, an all-inclusive care program for seniors, into a 30,000-square-foot building last summer, but is still working on its outpatient center.
