Rising water prompted the Los Angeles Police Department to close lanes this morning on Burbank Boulevard in the Sepulveda Basin.
The LAPD’s West Valley Division said at 10:39 a.m. today that the No. 2 and 3 eastbound lanes of Burbank Boulevard were closed at Balboa Boulevard in the Encino area due to flooding.
Meanwhile, it was a busy morning for the Los Angeles Fire Department.
The culprit could very well have been the rain, as slick L.A. roads created hazardous conditions.

This morning, from 6 to 8 a.m. the Los Angeles Fire Department responded to 101 calls.
Last year, same date: 68 calls.
LAFD spokesman Erik Scott wasn’t ready to completely blame it on the rain.
But, he added, the calls were “keeping your firefighters busy.”
The latest storm system was still passing over the Southland.
“There will be a chance of flash flooding and debris flows in recent burn areas, possible rock and mudslides in steep canyons, and localized flooding of low-lying roadways,” the National Weather Service warned in a statement.
The statement also warned of slick roads and reduced visibility, which could affect the morning commute.
