Glendale police suspended their search efforts Friday for a 20-year-old missing woman from Glendale, but they are continuing the investigation and turning toward family and friends for help.

Elaine Park was reported missing on Monday by family members. Her vehicle was found in Malibu on Thursday parked along the Pacific Coast Highway with her keys, cell phone and other personal property inside.

“She seems like a pretty popular girl in the Glendale area,” said Glendale police Sgt. Robert William on Friday. “We’re asking for any of her friends that may have known if she has been suffering with any kind of substance abuse or anything like that to talk to us. Any information can help. She’s a young girl and we’re hoping someone may know a little more about her life than just her parents and her boyfriend.”

Park, who is Korean American, has a thin build and is 5 foot 6 inches tall and 125 pounds with long brown hair with blonde tips and brown eyes, authorities said. She’s known to wear heavy mascara and make up and has a tattoo of a cow skull on her upper left arm area with an unknown tattoo on her lower left arm.

“It is critical and we are concerned for her well-being due to the personal property left inside the vehicle,” William said.

Park’s boyfriend has been “very, very” cooperative, William said.

“He’s been with the investigators, even when the vehicle was recovered,” William said. “He came out to the scene. He’s been with the family trying to assist as much as he can.”

On Thursday night, Glendale police, with a Los Angeles County rescue team, searched the Corral Canyon and PCH area where her 2015 Honda Civic was found.

“There’s canyons up on the left side and beach on the right side and all that area was searched last night,” the sergeant said. “All the trails in the canyons and along the beach on the coastline were searched to no avail.”

The Honda was later transported to the Glendale Police Department after being found. There was no indication of foul play in or out of the vehicle, William explained.

“At this point, because of the weather and the search conducted last night, we’re suspending the search,” William said.

Glendale Police Department spokeswoman Tahnee Lightfoot added “at this stage we’re actively investigating” but not searching. The spokeswoman said Park “could be anywhere. We’ve done our search and completed it. But if anything else we find leads us in that direction we will respond out there.”

Fliers of Elaine’s image were handed out to Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department deputies who work in the Malibu area and they would be on the lookout for her, William said.

“We did check all the local facilities we could think of, like hospitals, jail facilities and even the coroner’s office and she’s not popping up anywhere,” William concluded.

Park’s family, friends and law enforcement are concerned about her well-being and asking for anyone with information to contact the Glendale Police Department at 818-548-4911.
