GLOVERSVILLE — A 21-year-old woman is accused of having sexual contact with a child under the age of 11 for six months, city police said Tuesday.
City resident Jasmine M. Schmitt was arrested at noon Monday inside the police department, Gloversville police spokesman Capt. Michael Scott said.
Schmitt is charged with felony course of sexual conduct against a child.
City police opened an investigation after receiving a complaint of a possible sex offense, Scott said. Detective Jon Silva interviewed both Schmitt and the victim, Scott said.
“Detectives determined that the suspect had sexual contact with the victim on multiple occasions over the course of a six month period,” Scott said.
He said the sexual contact occurred inside Schmitt’s 62 West Pine St. home between January and June 2016.
Schmitt was arraigned in Gloversville City Court by the Judge Traci DiMezza and taken to Fulton County Jail on $25,000 cash bail or $50,000 insurance bond.
