Singer-songwriter John Mellencamp will bring his Americana troubadour tour to the Great Allentown Fair this summer with a performance on Thursday, Aug. 31.
Fair officials announced the show Friday morning.
Best known for hits like “Small Town,” “Jack and Diane” and “Hurts So Good,” this will be Mellencamp’s first Allentown Fair appearance. The Grammy Award-winner performed in the Lehigh Valley in 2009 at Coca-Cola Park in a show that also featured Bob Dylan and Willie Nelson.
Mellencamp, who has sold more than 40 million albums since 1976, co-founded Farm Aid in 1985 and appeared at the Harrisburg Farm Aid concert in 2012. He also is an accomplished painter and has acted in a few films.
His most recent album, “Plain Spoken,” was released in 2014 after a seven-year recording hiatus.
